In between our fieldwork about wildfires along the Arctic Circle Trail, we stayed in Sisimiut. It’s not a very well known or big place, but with 5,000 inhabitants it is the second biggest city in Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland), after Nuuk.
Around Sisimiut, ruins of ancient cultures can be found, the oldest dating from the Saqqaq culture some 4,500 years ago, and many from more recent decades.
