An excursion with students to learn about river-associated plant communities in the Millingerwaard in the Netherlands:

Old white willows by the river. White willow can withstand long periods of inundation and are excellently adapted to grow by rivers and lake margins. Years of high water and erosion have created bizarre, exposed root systems.

Students working in the background, teacher chilling under the cherry plum..

A stroll on the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. We were surprised to have the forest almost entirely to ourselves.
