The start of the fieldwork season on Svalbard. It was the second half of May, and although the snow had started disappearing from the valleys early that season, we were continuously surprised by episodes of fresh snowfall. An uncertain and exciting start, with every new Saxifraga flower emerging from the snow invoking a feeling of hope and gratitude.
